Big Love happens this Sunday September 15th from 1-8 pm in Pack Square. We will be in the lower section closer to the amphitheater in booth #129.
“We are beside ourselves with excitement for our 3rd celebration of unchained and independent Asheville to be held this Sunday, September 15, from 1-8pm downtown at Pack Square Park, rain or shine. We’ll have live and DJ’d music on two stages, food trucks, beer (including Highland’s “Big Love”), and a fine array of juried indie artists, crafters, makers & small businesses!”
Big Love is an exclusively local event, so you know it’s got to be fantastic. This is one of my favorite festivals to participate in, because all day long we bask in the glory of all the talent and support Asheville offers. I get to see my favorite faces all day.
3 other awesome vendors to check out:
Japa Mala Beads by the wonderful Timothy Burgin, a studio neighbor and excellent friend.
Care Mae Skincare by Cara Steinbuchel a true artist, friend and long time positive force in Asheville.
Intergalactic Hobo by the intruiging Tesla Jamieson, a serious leather worker, committed Burning Man veteran, and new friend.
For the second year in a row, Planned Parenthood is presenting a benefit in the form of a fashion show. Several local designers take on the challenge of making an outfit using a minimum of 700 condoms. It’s amazing to see the different approaches and interpretations, and to participate in supporting this organization which is so much in line with conscious values. Many of you may not be aware that Planned Parenthood lost it’s state funding in North Carolina last year, join us if you can to keep this community resource afloat.
Thursday, September 19, 6:30 – 9 pm

Our model from last year, Painter and Photgrapher Laura Schoolhouse, will be with us again! This year’s design is directly inspired by her exciting life event happening September 14th. I wonder if you can guess what type of condom dress we are working on….
One more exciting project in this fully packed two weeks is yet another design CHALLENGE! On September 22nd Dayna Reggero is getting married, she called me up to see if I could wrap my head around designing and building a wedding dress made of actual leaves. I don’t think I would have taken this on for just anyone, but being inspired by nature and spontaneity myself, I was all about it. So far, from the experiments I’ve done, it looks like I’ll have to make the dress the morning of the wedding! Not to worry, plans are under way.
